Pawn loans in Reims: the institution on rue Henri Jadart

The Crédit Municipal de Reims, at 5 rue Henri Jadart, lends against jewellery, art, wines and spirits for six renewable months, with a fixed fee of 1% per half-year; its next auctions are announced for 23 October and 11 December 2026.

An independent institution in Reims

Reims has its own institution, the Crédit Municipal de Reims, at 5 rue Henri Jadart, 51100 Reims, telephone 03 26 86 76 10. Its website mentions no other branch: all transactions go through this single counter.

Opening hours on rue Henri Jadart

The institution receives customers Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 12 noon and from 1.30pm to 5pm, according to its website consulted on 9 October 2026. A contact email address also appears on its home page, to help prepare a visit.

Six-month Reims contract and renewal

Each loan is granted for six months. On the due date, it can be renewed by paying only the interest, and the amount lent may be adjusted. The law caps the whole arrangement at two years; see our page on the renewal of a pawn loan.

The fixed fee of 1% per half-year

On top of the interest comes a "fixed fee including insurance, equal to 1% of the amount borrowed", calculated per half-year. For €1,000 borrowed, this fee therefore amounts to €10 per six-month period, excluding interest.

Rates displayed at the Reims branch

Annual rates "vary according to the amount borrowed", but the institution does not publish them online: they are displayed at the branch. Article D514-8-1 in fact requires institutions to display their fees and APR at reception.

Wines and spirits accepted in Champagne

As a notable feature, the institution accepts wines and spirits, kept in a secure cellar. It also takes jewellery, silverware, art objects and collectors' items. For the rules specific to bottles, see our page on pawn loans on wine.

Audiovisual equipment: strict conditions

Audiovisual equipment is accepted if it is recent, accompanied by an invoice less than three months old and its user manual, with personal data erased. An older device or one without an invoice is therefore likely to be refused at the Reims counter.

Jewellery without a French hallmark: marking tax

A marking tax applies to jewellery without a French hallmark. For a piece bought abroad, allow for this extra cost, the amount of which is not published online, and enquire with the Reims institution before the appraisal.

Choosing to sell after three months

The depositor may request the sale of their item after a minimum of three months from deposit. Without action within six months, the item goes to auction. Preparation fees apply to transactions carried out in the ten days preceding a sale.

Sales at the Hôtel des Ventes de la Porte Mars

The next sales are set for 23 October and 11 December 2026, from 2pm, at the Hôtel des Ventes de la Porte Mars, 25 rue du Temple, conducted by Maîtres Collet and Luneau. See also our page on Crédit Municipal auctions.

A Reims sale held by description

For security reasons, lots are not displayed before the sale, which is held solely "by description" (sur désignation): buyers bid on the basis of a written description. If the price exceeds the sum owed, the former owner receives the surplus.
